Stadsfonteyn Water
HISTORIC AND THERAPEUTIC SPRING WATER FROM BERGEN OP ZOOM
Stadsfonteyn Water is full of energy.
In 2005, the German water institute, Fresenius, officially recognised the water as therapeutic mineral spring water. It owes its abundance of minerals to mud and sand layers from the Brabantse Wal. The people from Bergen discovered the therapeutic benefits of the water centuries ago. The first well in Bergen was bored in the 7th century. In the Middle Ages, Bergen beer was brewed as a quality beverage using Bergen spring water. The Stadsfonteyn was built in 1631. The Dutch Royal Family served Bergen spring water with every meal back in the 19th century. In the first half of the 20th century, the Bergen family, Becht, used the water for commercial purposes. Afterwards, the rights were transferred to Vrumona, a subsidiary of Heineken. The well then became a thing of the past and was forgotten.
In 2005, the Stadspark Hotel (at the moment Fletcher Hotel-Restaurant Stadspark) commenced revitalisation of the old Stadsfonteyn. After in-depth studies and a number of approvals, the well was brought back to life and, since 2010, people can reap the benefits of real, original Stadsfonteyn Water. The water is bottled as still and sparkling water.
ORIGIN OF STADSFONTEYN WATER
The Stadsfonteyn water originates from the "Brabantse Kempen", which is in the Eastern most part of Brabant. The downward motion of the Brabantse water reaches far beneath the surface. It is then picked up by a slow westward movement towards the Brabantse Wal. This is where the water far below the surface collides with the wall of clay in Zeeland. The only thing left for the steam bursting of minerals to do is to make its way upwards, where the porous grains of sand are filled with the therapeutic and sweet tasting seepage. At this point the water settles at about 90 cm below the surface. This is the point in time when Stadsfonteyn Water is ready for use!
HEALTHY STADFONTEYN WATER
Stadsfonteyn Water is clear, pure and clean mineral water, full of energy.
In 2006, the Fresenius Institute scientifically proved that Stadsfonteyn Water could be categorised as medicinal mineral water.
This means that it helps to combat a number of illnesses and disorders.
The water contains minerals that produce great flavour and therapeutic effects. Stadsfonteyn Water contains essential minerals for our bodies:
